Confessed Diet Book Whore

So my sister, Crystal, sent me a copy of The Skinny Rules by Bob Harper for my Kindle and iPad. I read it from cover to cover yesterday. And it made a lot of sense. It's kind of like the South Beach in it pimps a high protein low carb (bad carbs -- not fruit and whole grains) eating plan but it has actual rules to memorize that you can use in everyday life. Allowing you to eat more of the food you already eat just changing the quality of it. I thought it was better written and goes into how fruit is not a bad carb and I love how you can Harpersize some foods. It talks about label reading and how to do it effectively. And where his trumps South Beach? You can have a ONE splurge meal a week. Um. Yes. Hello. Sign me up!

Crystal says it works for her (and she's beautiful and amazing looking AND she's older than me -- yes I had to toss that in there. Love you Sis! Okay so it's only like a year but still.) and for all the seasons of The Biggest Loser. What more proof do I need? So I'm jumping the South Beach Diet ship and aligning my loyalties with Bob. I'm also going to suggest this book to my friend whose doctor prescribed South Beach because it has a lot of the same principals but a lot more information and I mean, come on, it's Bob. I love that guy! Plus splurge meal. Need I say more?

I know I'm a no account flip flop no commitment wishy washy lifestyle changer. But what it really comes down to is this: Something I can do for a lifetime. I think Bob just might have the key to the magical kingdom. We shall see.

Yesterday's Food

Breakfast:
Scrambled eggs w/ chives
Slice of Canadian bacon
Iced Coffee

Snack:
1/2 a string cheese stick

Lunch:
Vegetarian Chili w/ a couple small pinches of 2% Milk Fat Shredded Jack and Cheddar cheese
big salad w/ oil and vinegar
Iced Green Tea

Snack:
1 apple (Bob said I could - so there. )
1 TBS peanut butter
Sliced Cucumbers w/ pepper and oil and vinegar to dip in

Dinner:
Lean Hamburger w/ tomato and lettuce - No bun
Sauteed mushrooms and onions

I know it's too hot to oven roast veggies....but if you're up early one morning it's a great time to do it without getting the house too hot. I do 2 cookie sheets worth at 7:00 am before getting ready for church and when they're done I cool them and put them in a container in the fridge. When I want to eat them I eat them cold drizzled with balsamic vinegar. Fabulous! And personally, I think roasted eggplant is the best!

When I get up early? That's hilarious. I'm always up early. That sounds really yummy. I'm going to have to try that out. I heart eggplant. I'll have to try it.
